Getting outdoors for a family session at Cobbs Creek Park, as opposed to shooting in, means the parents won’t be self-conscious about clutter around their home (although I can magically make clutter disappear). They are more relaxed and open to having more fun. It’s neutral ground too. Plus, the background options can be exceptional, especially just before sunset.

Except sometimes getting outdoors creates a different set of problems – for this session, the creek was a big draw for Miss A. If it was up to her, she would have jumped right in and explored all its wonder. While that would have made some fantastic portraits (because it would have been her and real), her parents would have been less than thrilled with the cold, wet, and messy child they would have had to deal with (part of me would have loved it 😉 ).

Toddler Cobbs Creek Park

I first met Miss A when she was a few months old. She has this infectious smile that just sucks you in and grabs your heart. I can already tell she is going to be one of those kids that other kids are drawn too. They’ll be fighting to be her bestie!

She would have stayed here and explored all day. Look at that face of determination!

I’m so thrilled this wonderful family invites me back to capture their love and spirit. It is such a pleasure to work with clients who appreciate the true value of capturing genuine interactions and personality. I can’t wait for what’s next!

pucciManuli is a gorgeous, high-end toy store located in Ardmore on the Main Line…hardwood floors, exposed brick, beautiful vignettes. You will not find Legos, Barbies or any other Toys R Us type toy. You will find a unique, high-quality collection of toys, games and gifts, including the largest stuffed elephant I’ve ever seen. It was in this beautiful space that I got to shoot half a dozen cute kids for pucciManuli to use for their marketing.

Unleashing all those kids in a toy store fortunately was not as chaotic as I thought it was going to be. In fact, the kids were able to really get in there to explore and play with some of the toys. It was so interesting to see that they were most intrigued with the fairy door, the rocking horses and the top – what a relief, no electronics!

If you’re looking for something different for your favorite little one, definitely visit pucciManuli! Below are some of my favorite shots…

I love the holidays. I love the decorating, the food, the traditions and all the anticipation. I also love giving gifts, especially gifts that people wouldn’t buy for themselves.

I’ve written before about how important it means to me to have family portraits. Unfortunately, for most people, they don’t realize how important it is until someone in their family can’t be in the portrait. I encourage families to be proactive – get portraits taken now. Invite the grandparents and all the siblings. And do it once a year – kids change, parents change, babies are added.

Think about the old photos you have of your parents and your grandparents, how they look when they’re younger. You want your children and grandchildren to have portraits of you and your family when they’re older too, don’t you? I do!

Anyway, because of all that, I am hosting the Catt & Co. Photography’s First Annual Holiday Giveaway. You can win a family portrait session plus an 11×14 wall portrait to guarantee you have at least one print.  And, what’s so great about the holidays, a few other generous businesses offered up gifts too!

  • $25 gift certificate to Mpix for even more photo stuff!
  • $25 gift certificate to pucciManuli — worth a visit in their gorgeous store to see their beautiful collection of toys.
  • $25 gift certificate to The Mud Room – paint your own pottery and more for kids and adults!
  • 10 visits to Lulu’s Casita for hours of fun for both kids and parents.
  • $10 gift certificate to The Sweet Trading Co. for a little decadence.

And lastly, for every new like the Catt & Co. Photography Facebook page receives, I will donate a $10 grocery card to the Ardmore Food Pantry (up to $250).

The giveaway is from December 1 through December 8th. You can earn up to 7 entries. The winner will be chosen on December 9th and notified by e-mail.

Small print: Session must happen between 1/2014 and 6/2014. Additional product purchases will be available. No cash exchanges or refunds. Portrait session can be upgraded to Newborn Session for additional fee. Travel fee applies 20 miles beyond zip code 19003.

So, what are you waiting for? You can earn up to 7 entries below!

Happy Holidays!

This session with this sweet family did not start off ideally. Poor little B hurt his finger just before showing up. He was a trooper and really tried his best to smile through it all but once his ice pack melted, it was over. These photos were actually taken over two sessions. The second session was much better, and I brought out one of my ginormous balloons to make it that much more fun. Love those balloons! Only problem, they don’t fit in the car to
take home 🙁
